Welcome to the Eisenhower Men's Golf Association (EMGA)
The purpose of this letter is to provide you a short outline of our programs and provide background on the organization and its purpose.
The EMGA was organized
in 1983 and has continually provided the best competitive and social golfing experiance possible to its members. It is a volunteer organization which has survived and grown through the efforts of dedicated volunteers. It is governed by an Executive Council (EC), an elected body, and EMGA Board, composed of EC and Committee Chairs. A current list of these individuals is in the EMGA Handbook which will be available at the beginning of the golf season. The EC has two primary functions: to be good stewards of the organization and its finances, and to provide support to the operating committees. The backbone of the EMGA is the operating committees. They are the heavy lifters who make everything happen.
The EMGA conducts four major activities during the season [detailed information is listed in the EMGA Handbook and at our wesite www.emgacolorado.org]:
Open Play/Open Play Competition: Individual play either in flighted competitive event including medal play and skins or just fun round during Thursday tee times. Sign for your tee time in the EMGA Book at the Eisenhower Golf Course [EGC] Tee Time Desk.
Tournament Play: Thursday [usally shotgun start] events using a variety of formats for team and indivdual play. Sign up in the EMGA Book or by email at tournament@emgacolorado.org.
Match Play: Head-to-head competition where you schedule your own matches. Two separate sessions result in an end-of-season playoff for the EMGA Match Play Championship. Signup procedures for each as announced.
Home and Away: EMGA members [12-16] are provided an opportunity to play other outstanding courses in the Pikes Peak region. The format is one round at the EGC and one round at the Away Club. The play format is Match Play, with two-man teams from both clubs competing for prizes and bragging rights. EMGA players regardless of handicap, are selected by lottery for each club played. There are additional fees to cover green fees, carts, prizes and meals for each event.
EMGA dues are collected at the current rate of $35 per year. These monies are paid out in the form of prizes for events, cost of members' meals for special events and a small amount for operating costs. Our goal is to return as much as we can to the members.
The EMGA is composed of a unique and diverse group with varied backgrounds and experiences, but like you a share a love of the game. We are sure that you will develop lasting friendships over the course of the season. Have a great 2008 season.
